Foothills Park

The City's newest riverfront park is nine acres on the Willamette River waterfront, just north of Roehr Park and the Oswego Pointe area. It has a covered platform with panoramic views of the river, as well as a ring of basalt columns inscribed with William Stafford's poetry (the Stafford Stones). A timber and stone picnic pavilion with a stone fireplace, pathways, a reflecting pool, and a grass amphitheater that hosts weekly concerts in July.

In 2005, the City of Lake Oswego opened Foothills Park, which quickly became one of the city's most popular riverfront parks. This park is located on the banks of the Willamette River and is flanked by the Portland Bureau of Environmental Services' Wastewater Treatment Plant and Roehr Park. The property was owned by the City of Portland for many years and leased to Georgia Pacific for a wood chip loading facility. In December 2004, the City of Lake Oswego acquired 5.5 acres from the City of Portland and obtained a recreational easement for 3.4 acres in exchange.

The park's features include a large grass amphitheater, riverfront walkway, group picnic pavilion with a cantilevered viewing platform overlooking the river, natural areas, and internet access. A 1.5-mile out-and-back trail near Lake Oswego, Oregon is accessible. It's considered a moderate journey that takes an average of 28 minutes to complete. This is a popular hiking route as well as trail running and walking, although there are times when you may get some peace and quiet. Dogs are permitted but must be on a leash.

The park is open from 5:00 am to 10:00 pm daily. Parking is available on site. If you're looking for a place to enjoy the outdoors and take in some fresh air, Foothills Park is the perfect spot. This park offers stunning views of the Willamette River and plenty of opportunities to explore nature. So, whether you're looking to take a scenic stroll or just relax in the great outdoors, be sure to check out Foothills Park.
